Lido di Bellagio beach club

>Lido di Bellagio beach club

When the summer sun is blazing and the tourist trail has you frazzled, the private beach club known as Lido di Bellagio is the perfect place to sit back, relax and let the world go by. Last week – in celebration of the Lido di Bellagio’s opening party, we’ve put together a brief introduction to the beach club with all the information you need to make the most of your day by the lake!

There has been a beach club at this location for over a century – the Bagni Volta in the 19th century and then the Lido di Bellagio, which was built in the typical Rationalist architectural style between 1932 and 1936. The timeless elegance of the building, its canary yellow façade and the unparalleled beauty of its views have made it a favorite location for the screen – like in the hilarious romp A Month By The Lake by John Irving or Mario Biondi’s music video for My Girl that he shot with Peroni Nastro Azzuro.

So, throw on your cutest itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini and enjoy a day at the Lido di Bellagio!

The Lido di Bellagio couldn’t be more central. Located between the ferry station and the Villa Melzi gardens, the beach club is about ten minutes’ walk from Bellagio town center and a about 15 minutes’ drive from the Palazzo. The entrance faces the main road from Lezzeno to Bellagio and there is ample curbside parking along that road and in a small lot just beyond the entrance. Be aware that this is a one-way road leading north and you will not be able to return to Lezzeno via the same road. Follow the street signs for Como to return via the “high road” above Bellagio town. Remember, all street parking with blue lines is pay and display; the price is €1.50 per hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (White lines mean free parking; yellow lines are for residents, the handicapped or official vehicles.) You can pay at one of the blue machines by the parking area, grab your timed ticket and make sure it can be seen on your dashboard. Traffic wardens can (and will!) write tickets for anyone not displaying a valid ticket. You can also reach the Lido di Bellagio by private boat or water taxi.

The Beach Club by Day

Entrance to the Lido di Bellagio is technically free, but anyone who enters is obliged to rent at least one deckchair. You can choose between deckchairs and sun loungers, with umbrellas and gazebos as extra add-ons. Gazebos – large rectangular tent-like structures with a fabric top and sides for shade – are positioned on the sandy section of the platform and come with a comfy daybed and pillows as well as 2 deckchairs. Sun loungers and umbrellas can go on the wooden deck or the sand. Your rental period is either a half-day or full-day, with the half-day option only available between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Swimming is permitted all along the shore between the town and the Villa Melzi, but guests are advised to stay close to shore and watch out for boat traffic. Unfortunately, the diving platform and water slide are currently closed. Towels are also available for rent at the Lido if you need them and there are changing rooms, showers and restrooms to use throughout your stay.

Lunch is served at the beach club restaurant on the first floor from 12 noon. The menu offers a surprisingly wide variety of meals from pizza to piadine (hot sandwiches) and bruschettona (cold, open-faced sandwiches) to salads as well as pasta, hamburgers, plates of cured meats and cheese, and classic Italian favorites like vitello tonnato, Bresaola served with arugula and parmesan and gelato. With prices ranging from 6 to 15 euros, the food is also very good value! Drinks from wine and coffee to soft drinks and cocktails are available for a reasonable cost (especially for Bellagio!) and can be enjoyed under your gazebo or at the tables on the first-floor terrace.

The Beach Club by Night

When the sun starts to go down and the sunbathers leave their loungers, Lido di Bellagio transforms into a swank nightclub in the blink of an eye. From 7:30 p.m., aperitivo is served in the bar and on the beach, with regular dance parties from 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The door price is € 10 for women and € 15 for men and include one drink. A special VIP service is available for groups at a “privè” table with couches, deckchairs, complimentary fresh fruit and a (pricey!) bottle service either on the terrace or the beach. Check the website for special Friday night dinner parties that start with aperitivo from 7:30, a three-course dinner at 9:30 and dancing from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tickets are around € 35 and include one bottle of red or white wine for every 3 customers. On Sundays, Lido di Bellagio offers its popular All-day Beach Party from 4 p.m. Guests pay € 10 for the appetizer buffet and their first drink, with any additional drinks charged at list prices.

Guests can jump aboard the special party boat on select Saturday nights. The “booze cruise” docks in Como at 10 p.m., leaves for Lido di Bellagio at 10:30 p.m. and leaves again for Como at 2:30 a.m. The € 25 cover charge includes one drink on the boat, entrance to the disco and a drink at the Lido as well as two one-hour cruises aboard a 150-person pleasure cruiser with its own DJ and dancefloor.

Special Events

Lido di Bellagio offers a unique venue for celebrations great and small – either bring your group to one of the scheduled events or rent the entire beach club for your wedding, birthday or MICE event. They have package deals for hen nights and stag parties as well as festive birthdays from € 22 to € 99 per person that include things like finger foods, cocktails and personalized cakes to a booze cruise or private table in the VIP section. You can even get a shout out from the DJ to make your special night unforgettable.

Weddings at the Lido di Bellagio have a unique appeal, mixing a “barefoot on the beach” vibe with the elegant interiors of the beach club and the incredible setting on Lake Como’s shores. The hospitality professionals of their partners at Hotel Silvio and Made Club Como are experts event managers and the fleet of boats of their partners at Bellagio Boat Service ensure you and your guests arrive in style to the festivities.
